![]() ![]() I see CVs being good against bases and other capital vessels. Then make flak cannons aoe weapons(see Battlestar Galactica's flak cannons) for defense against smaller, faster fighters. I think the weapons on CVs need to have slower tracking/firing(but more powerful) so they're good against fixed targets but not so good against fast attack craft. SVs are still preferable because of the weapons restrictions on CVs. It's backwards.Ģ: Combat Performance: See above. ![]() Because of the weapons restrictions on CVs I prefer to use SVs to assault bases but because of how RCS works currently(I assume y'all have plans for this) CVs maneuver like fighter jets and SVs maneuver like big ponderous CVs. Some of this feedback has be taken with a grain of salt because missing features and/or the current state of the game will funnel players into using vehicles for very specific reasons because there are simply no reasonable alternatives.ġ: Flight Performance (vs. I've been giving this topic some more thought. ![]() I suspect 0.5m blocks are just on the wrong side of too small for large constructions and too large to enable a decent amount of detail, Empy follows the Spengies example far too closely. Do I think switching Empy over exclusively to the SV scale blocks is a good idea? No. I honestly can't tell how many blocks there are in her now, the construction method we're using in S1 is very different to how our Empy ships are built, but if I had to speculate I'd say there are probably somewhere in the region of 70-100k blocks, but I could be way off and currently she's not finished hull-wise nevermind detail.Ĭonclusion: Personally, I love the 1m scale in S1 and the extra time can easily be negated with proper tools, most of what you see above is copy/paste/modify and many of the armour panels can be pulled off, modifed and put back on again without too much bother. Leviathan is 36948 blocks in Empyrion, We have already started rebuilding her in Skywanderers with 1m scale blocks, she's definitely gained some in length because had to extend the front once and I also just kept throwing bits on the back until she looked right, now somewhere in the region of 400m instead of ~352m in Empyrion. Whilst I think this is doable, Vic is right, we'd probably be looking at ~3 months work to rebuild Typhon in SV scale. Typhon is 131569 blocks in Empyrion, if we had used SV scale blocks it would be somewhere in the region of 8 Million! (8420416 if every block was a full cube replaced with 64 SV scale blocks) Since most of Empyrion's content is on planetary playfields, flight time & fuel efficiency play a big part in my designs and usage - certain "stylistic" creations notwithstanding. CV carries SV (and HV where applicable) to a planet, SV does the scouting, traveling, etc, and the CV provides a base / cargo depot until a local Base can be established. On the topic at hand, it's been a long time since I actually sat down and did a proper Survival game, but I tend towards the mindset that SVs are runabouts, fighters, small ships intended for transport or combat. Plus, you'd be able to place deco, devices, sensors, and so forth with greater precision.īasically, instead of just saying "screw it, CVs = SVs now," we can keep the SV/CV distinction (longer warp range, grow plots, other assorted benefits), keep the large blocks (both for the sake of building efficiency and so as not to completely break the thousands of CVs made up to this point), and still retain the benefits of small blocks and a more precise voxel grid. Half-blocks and other items could be adjusted accordingly, so that the problem of "light floating 1.5m off the wall" would be a thing of the past. ![]() Click to expand.I've had a project in the works for a while (still nowhere near complete) that I hope to use to convince the devs that CVs should switch to a smaller voxel scale - big blocks, deco, and so forth would still be available, but instead of 1x³ = 2m³ large blocks would simply occupy a 4x³ cubic space. ![]()
